Corryong

Adventure paradise
Corryong is a popular destination for rock climbing, rafting and horse riding, and a breathtaking natural environment for bushwalks, 4WD tours, cycling and fishing. Take a rafting tour and tackle the challenging rapids of the Murray River, or relax with the more gentle water activities of raft fishing and 'family float' trips.

In winter, the spectacular sight of snow-capped Mount Kosciuszko is a reminder that cross-country skiers can find snow within a half-hour drive.

Local legends
Corryong is famous as the final resting place of Jack Riley, considered by many to be the inspiration for the hero in AB 'Banjo' Paterson's poem The Man from Snowy River. Visit Jack Riley's grave at the Corryong Cemetery or learn more about the legend and the mountains at The Man from Snowy River Folk Museum.

For some unforgettable high country action, visit Corryong in April when The Man from Snowy River Bush Festival is held. Watch a large field of riders perform incredible feats in the legendary The Man from Snowy River Challenge, wander through the open-air market, listen to storytellers, bands and folk singers.

Outdoor activities
Find a quiet spot in a mountain stream and while away an afternoon fly-fishing for wild rainbow and brown trout, or try your luck at catching the legendary Murray cod at Wawa or Interlard.

Enjoy the short walk to the tumbling cascades of Cudgewa Bluff Falls, amid the massive granite outcrops of Burrowa-Pine Mountain National Park.

Local histories
Call in at an old-fashioned country pub, such as the 150-year-old pub at Tintaldra, a favourite stopover for vintage car and motorcycle touring groups or visit the historic Tintaldra Store built in 1864.

See the oldest racecourse grandstand in the state, as featured in the film Phar  Lap, at the Towong Turf Club.
